After months of perseverance and by the will of the creator, we are pleased to report the Playground and Guinea Fowl projects have been completed at the Eco Village (orphanage) in Tanzania.

*Donation* £11,500 was donated to us by you for both projects. £2,132 Gift Aid received on donations Total income *£13,632* *Cost* £8,500 Playground Equipment, including supply and install, procured from www.eastafricanplaygrounds.org £4,970 for playground transport from Uganda and Customs Tax. £1,000 for Guinea Fowl Hen and breeding project. In order to save on labour costs, this was built locally by ourselves with the help of the orphanage staff.   *Total cost £14,470* As there was extra funds required to complete the project, our ground partner (ihelpglobal) paid for the extra unforeseen costs.

The project is up and running

After 3 months of perseverance and dedication we are pleased to report the Yemen Food Bakery is now opened, which is providing daily food for 1000’s of people affected by the war.

*Costing*
£11,000 was donated to us by you.
£11,133 ($14,000) was spent on occupying premises and equipment.

$9,225 was spent by our ground partner on repairs and material for the premises, to enable the project to be self sustainable. 

After initial purchase the bakery was producing bread in lower quantity whilst work was being carried out to bring it up to full scale.

]]> Rohingya Sep 2017 http://www.mwtrust.com/rohingya-sep-2017/ Sun, 08 Oct 2017 17:44:23 +0000 http://www.mwtrust.com/?p=2220 We were in Tumbru Village, at the border between Bangladesh and Myanmar, across the creek of water there are 1289 Rohingya families, approx 6,000 people. They only had a few days food left when we arrived.

Getting to the village we faced many challenges, due to location, this meant security was tense on the border, the roads were bad, which prevents vehicles going up to the border area. Working conditions were tough, due to weather, with the monsoons and not able to cross the water.

We arranged for 1290 monthly family food packs for each family in the camp. Plus we provided necessary medicine for diarrhea, fever, multivitamins, as most people had such symptoms. Harsh working environment with bacteria, cleanliness, sewage, waste, heat, rain and other diseases being factors whilst working. Also getting permission to be in area and getting permission for the aid to be allowed, then have the Rohingya cross the water to collect the aid all amounted to extra challenges we had to overcome. We had to source the food packs from over an hour away and then arrange for the transportation across 7 trucks and 3 days. We eventually managed to get all the needed aid to the Rohingya Refugees living in the make shift camp on the border between Bangladesh and Myanmar.

The recent war in Gaza, which was the main reason behind the destruction of hundreds of homes and displacing thousands of families whose homes have been demolished in whole or in part, to become uninhabitable

In December 2015 we accommodated 900 families of affected Palestinian families and children who have lost their houses during the last war on Gaza and families in need.

We provided help for families whose homes were destroyed and became homeless, living in tents, the following was provided:

400 blankets for 400 affected families.

Supply medications to help 500 affected families and injuries.

Mercy Worldwide volunteers tirelessly sprung into action, working around the clock to deliver aid and medical supplies to Gaza on a urgent and immediate bases. Gaza food&medicine Jul-Sep14 (158)As always with your prayers and support we were one of the first groups who managed to distribute supplies in Gaza City while it was still under attack. A massive thank you for everyone’s efforts in the first 2 weeks of the attacks, with the Grace of God and some dedicated efforts the aid had started to be handed out in Gaza and was continuing to be delivered to families and hospitals.

Due the attacks the Jabalia center which we helped to complete in 2013 was overwhelmed and most of the medication and supplies were consumed in the the first two days. We urgently neededJabalia damage & medicine (8) your support, which we generously received. Further into the conflict the Medical center suffered a indirect hit and was damaged, the center remained operational but created more burden on it. We managed to keep this running and supplied with our collective efforts.

Given the success, our volunteers were contacted by Kream Developments to help assist in distributing further supplies in Gaza. With the efforts of Kream Developments in the UK and our efforts in Gaza we managed to hand out more food parcels to the homeless and hungry and also helped restock medical supplies at hospitals and medical centers, which saw our work continue late in to August and early September.

]]> Syrian Refugee Camps, Winter Fuel Dec 2013 http://www.mwtrust.com/syrian-refugee-camps-winter-fuel-dec-2103/ Wed, 19 Feb 2014 16:45:00 +0000 http://www.mwtrust.com/?p=687 Whilst we traveled to the Syrian camps in Dec 2013, we saw that there was a desperate need for burning fuel. It was very difficult to survive without fuel in the camps, the weather was getting colder and families were forced to suffer further.
During our last visit we found and located a large number for Refugees who had not got any aid at all from outside, we did not have any blankets left at this time. We did a survey of the area and decided that we would return to provide these camps with burning fuel, which would allow them to stay warm in the camp, cook, and have warm water to use.
Therefore we reached out to our donors and asked them to sponsor one month’s supply of fuel per camp; once again we received a great response and headed off back to the camps on the border.

On the ground we sourced a fuel company which was willing to supply us the fuel at the cheapest price and also it was a charitable company who invested its profits back into free local education and community support.
We decided that the best and safest way to do this distribution was to hand out tokens to the camps allowing the people to redeem these from the a local station for fuel as and when they needed this. This method saved us time, money and many other challenges we faced with transporting large amounts of fuel.
30, 000 liters of fuel was purchased providing 750 families with fuel.

Some of the largest number headed to the Lebanese / Syria border and they were getting little to no help. Due to the winter weather kids were freezing and some had already died. We decided to head to the Lebanese border to help distribute blankets in the camps so people could stay warm during the harsh cold weather.

We managed to source and secure a deal on a large amount of blankets which were being donated by you.
We traveled to the border with trucks full of blankets and we visited the camps personally and went from camp to camp handing out these blankets. In some areas it was too dangerous to get to the camps so we set up points were people could come and collect these blankets from us.

We distributed 2300 blankets in total, we far exceeded what we set out to do and got to areas what no one else was working in and helped some of the most needy Syrian people of the crisis.
